Characteristics of Ranunculus:
• Long flowering period of 6-8 weeks with proper care.
• Excellent as cut flowers, with a vase life of 10-14 days.
• Suitable for planting in gardens, pots, or greenhouses.
• Not fully winter hardy but tolerate light frost down to -3 °C.
• Corns can be stored after flowering and replanted.
Planting Instructions:
Ranunculus thrive with a cool start for strong root development and optimal flowering. They grow best at a soil temperature of 5-10 °C in the initial phase. They can withstand light frost (-3 °C), but protect them with fleece or mulch during severe frost.
Planting in Autumn (for early spring blooms):
• When? Late September to November.
• Where? In a cool greenhouse or outdoors in mild climates.
• Important: Keep soil temperatures below 15 °C during root growth.
Planting in Spring (for summer blooms):
• When? February to April.
• Where? Start in a cool greenhouse and move outdoors once there’s no longer a risk of frost, or plant directly outdoors if severe frost is no longer expected.
• Important: Begin at 5-10 °C and ensure ambient temperatures do not exceed 20 °C once the plants sprout.
